Changes to HMRC’s VAT Portal will affect Sage users

The HMRC portal has changed, if you use Sage 50 Accounts to submit VAT Returns, EC sales lists or CIS submissions you will need to consider the options. To continue to submit VAT Returns through your Sage 50 Accounts software, you must ensure that you are on version 24.1 or above. As of 14 February 2018 the gateway service has been decommissioned and replaced by a new system developed by HMRC.

Unlike other changes in the past, if you wish to continue submitting your data direct from Sage there will be no way around this, other than upgrading.

Businesses that manually enter VAT Returns by logging into HMRC’s website (www.hmrc.gov.uk) using a Government Gateway ID and password will not be affected, although the login and submission pages may look a bit different.

We recommend bringing your version up-to-date (V24.1) to avoid any potential errors when manually entering data. Operating an older version can leave you out of date with the latest features and technological developments that could put your business ahead of the competition.

As a fully accredited Sage Accountant Partner we can upgrade you to the latest version at reduced rates of up to 50%.

If you would like our assistance to upgrade your current version please contact Kate Mulligan on 028 8775 2990 for further information.
