Grants, Access to Finance


At CavanaghKelly we actively support and encourage our clients to grow and develop their business. To support this we have established a dedicated team with knowledge of the funding opportunities whether grant assistance, bank finance or alternative sources such as crowd funding, venture capital support etc.

We have identified support opportunities for clients across the following areas:

  • Marketing & Export Support
    • Support is available for businesses exporting or seeking to export, this will assist with: Tradeshow attendance;
      • Customer identification and development;
      • Market visits;
      • Product launches;
      • Consultancy advice ; and
      • Salary support for staff involved.
  • Research & Development – “Funding for Solving Problems”
    • Funding is available for the costs associated with new and significantly improved product development. Start-up and existing businesses can avail of funding from initial concept through to trialling and testing and IP protection.
    • Additional support can be received where cross border collaboration takes place.
    • Finally, don’t forget HMRC tax credits and allowances for R&D. We have successfully assessed and claimed R&D allowances for clients who didn’t realise their projects would fit the criteria.
  • Employment
    • Grant Support is available for those businesses which are growing and require additional staff, at all levels within the business. In particular:
      • Sales;
      • Design;
      • Finance/Administration; and
      • Production roles.
  • Agriculture
    • Improving, supporting and sustaining our Agricultural Industry is a priority and in this regard significant support is available.
    • We have assisted farmers, food producers and everything in between, including forestry production.
    • Support is available for those businesses with export potential, while a new Farm Business Improvement Scheme is due to launch in Autumn 2015.
  • Tourism
    • Tourism is an ever growing economy in Northern Ireland with ‘Brand NI’ now being recognised worldwide. The success of the recent large scale international events and the potential for further events in the coming years has provided a real boost to this sector.
    • Funding is available throughout a wide spectrum of the tourism industry from event organisation to accommodation grants. The main provider of these grants is the Northern Ireland Tourist Board however Invest NI and local councils also offer support for suitable projects.
  • Start Ups
    • Start-up businesses can benefit from a variety of local council and enterprise support. Low level grant support is available through a number of different government backed initiatives.
    • CavanaghKelly work closely with a number of the local enterprise centres and have a good working knowledge of the grants available.
    • Start up business often benefit from mentoring and advice on building the right foundations for growth and business development. Often schemes and programmes are available which can be a cost effective way of getting expert advice.
  • Private Equity
    • Private equity is an alternative to mainstream lending and is geared towards innovative and high growth areas.
    • Although it can be relatively expensive in comparison to bank finance, private equity can provide the necessary finance for a business to flourish where bank funding isn’t possible.
    • It is vitally important that these finance opportunities are brokered by industry experts and we can point you in the right direction.
